Next Sunday:- 6th April - Readings: Acts 2: 14. 22-33; Psalm 15; 1 Peter 1: 17-21; Luke 24: 13-35.
Third Sunday of Easter. The gospel next Sunday is the story of the ‘Road to Emmaus’ and it is a episode all about the Eucharist. The disciples recall how their hearts burned within them as Jesus explained the scriptures to them and then Jesus is ‘made known’ in the breaking of bread. Our worship, too, is about the word of God and the sacrament of the Lord’s Body and Blood. Notice, too, how Jesus performs the four-fold ‘actions’ of the Eucharist as he has supper with the disciples. The other readings bear witness to the resurrection. In Acts we are told that Apostles are appointed for this and Peter reminds us of the price Jesus paid.
